From Hospitality to the Travel Industry

Hamish had successfully run boutique hotels and even a private island. But he was finding the long hours draining. He was about to become a father and needed more work/life balance. Unsure of his new direction, he took time to meet with a number of people in interesting areas. He ended up with 3 job offers! He took one as a Relationship Manager in an African Safari company. He’s absolutely loving it and it gives him clear time for his family life.

From TEFL to Policy Co-ordinator

Leontine took time out to travel in S America after her Law Diploma, and was finding it hard to get her first full-time role once she got back. Flourish helped her to articulate her passion for social justice and aptitude for writing great copy. Putting these things together and working on her CV and messaging, she applied for a few Comms and Policy roles and was offered one within a month, in an organisation that she really cares about.

From Secondary History teacher to Access Consultant

Sam had had a successful career in education, but needed a new challenge. He brought a law background and a deep knowledge of disability access issues due to visiting a number of universities with his disabled son. Flourish helped him make the decision to retrain as an Access Consultant and were able to give him some useful contacts in this area. He is now fully trained, self-employed and loving this interesting and fulfilling work.

From Civil Service Policy to Community Energy Project Manager

Hannah was in a government Policy role, in an area that she cared about but that felt too far away from real on-the-ground change. We considered a number of potential avenues but working directly with communities was a realistic move, as well as using Hannah’s superstrengths in organisation and planning. She got the first role that she applied for with Flourish’s help!

From Operations Manager to Political Comms

After a few successful but unstable years working in operations roles in start-ups, this career journey also included a parallel path as a talented musician who came close to securing a recording deal. The question became how to find a career path that truly inspired long-term commitment. A passion for politics, combined with a strong talent for storytelling, made Political Communications a natural fit. This has led to a current internship with the very first agency that was contacted.
